These two television giants have launched a get-out-the-vote campaign to motivate Hispanics voters. Telemundo’s campaign is entitled “Tu Voto, Tu Futuro” (Your Vote, Your Future) and Univision has teamed up with the National Association of Latino Elected Officials (NALEO) and ImpreMedia, LLC in another campaign.
Several sources have projected that the Hispanic vote will be key in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Nevada and Texas. Community organizations all across our nation “are working hard to make sure Latinos understand why this election is important to them.” said Valeria Treves, Executive Director of the New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE). Also, independent research firm Latino Decisions, found that interest in the election has risen 20% in the last month, which means, that we are in place to play an important role this election.
So let me join the effort and ask you to go out and exercise your rights and your duty. Learn about the candidates and their positions on issues that impact you, your family and your community. Then, armed with that knowledge, go out and vote. Future generations of Latinos will thank you for it.
