As reported by the Hillicon Valley:
Sens. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) and Mark Begich (D-Alaska) are working on an amendment to Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller’s (D-W.Va) spectrum bill designed to ensure rural areas benefit from the legislation.
Rockefeller’s bill, which authorizes incentive auctions and funds a nationwide public safety network, will be marked up on May 25. That’s the same day the House Energy and Commerce Communications subcommittee will hold a hearing on creating a public safety network.
Bipartisan member of the Senate support Rockefeller’s bill, but House Energy and Commerce members prefer a cheaper alternative that they say would create an equally effective network.
